About ARC
The ARC Institute is a school of consciousness. ARC teaches physical, emotional and spiritual care for oneself and others by means of workshops, classes, presentations and therapeutic sessions. Since its foundation in 1994, The ARC Institute has dedicated itself to the support and development of high quality education in health-care and personal growth. It is with this objective in mind that ARC continues to present its programs throughout the United States and Canada.
People come to The ARC Institute to discover their passions, develop loving relationships and to evolve towards their highest potential. It is the goal of this Institute to support our students to become autonomous, heart-felt people who experience greater fulfillment in all levels of their lives. ARC can be integrated into your current profession, any relationship or lead to certification as an ARC Practitioner. We are confident that your ARC experience will benefit you, your family, friends, clients and community.
A Return to Consciousness
“ARC” stands for A Return to Consciousness. The ability to “return” to conscious awareness or Presence is central to ARC’s teachings. ARC provides the model and tools to create conscious awareness and Presence in all areas of our lives
Many modalities and philosophies teach the importance of striving towards a perfect life, with little worries or stresses. ARC believes life is a school that provides lessons, some of which come in the form of challenges. These challenges are there to spur our growth. We can either fall victim to these challenges, or see them as opportunities for self- growth. ARC shows you how to recognize the challenges and avoid losing our-Selves beneath them. Knowing how to Return to Consciousness gives you the ability to sustain conscious awareness longer and more effectively. This is the discovery of choice: the choice to be conscious, aware and present in every facet of your life: your relationships, careers, parenting - and especially in your day-to-day living.
The ARC Institute is a school of consciousness. Each of the programs offered are designed to deepen, support and nurture your own unique Journey to Consciousness.
The Learning Environment
The ARC Institute has its headquarters in Qualicum Beach on beautiful, idyllic Vancouver Island, BC. ARC Classes are held in nearby Nanaimo, Courtenay or in Duncan/Victoria area. The ocean and nature is never too far away and students are always encouraged to make the most of the area’s natural attractions with suggestions to visit the sea lion colonies or to take a short hike to a forest, lake or ocean during a class break.
In addition to Vancouver Island, ARC Programs are currently held in Seattle, Washington. The ARC Institute has handpicked facilities in each of these areas to provide comfortable learning environments for our students. Classrooms are spacious, bright and comfortable. Students have access to kitchen facilities and there is proximity to restaurants and areas for short walks and recreation.
Personal Growth and Self-Care
Personal growth and Self-Care is a fundamental element in The ARC Institute’s seminars and workshops. A central tenant of ARC is that internal change is reflected in external change. We believe that self-growth and development should catalyze the manifestation of one’s life desires and passions. We work toward this goal with all of our students.
Whether attending for your own self study, to add ARC skill training to your current career or to train to become an ARC Practitioner, the staff of the ARC is committed to supporting your movement into personal awareness and expansion on your road to greater consciousness.
ARC Assignments
Assignments are offered in many ARC classes. Assignments are for further study and support between classes. Students may choose to do all of the assignments, some of them or none at all. This is purely an optional service. However, those participants who are studying for ARC Health Practitioner Certification must complete all class assignments.
Assignments consist of reading books related to the class material, writing about personal experiences pertaining to class topics and their applications outside the classroom. Assignments questions focus upon the individual’s personal growth and self-care. As well, participants document their experiences as a caregiver practicing ARC techniques and skills in health-care sessions.
Participants who choose to participate in assignments receive a one-on-one Assignment Review Session with their teacher. The purpose of this session is to validate, support and identify any areas that need clarification, to increase skill levels and when necessary, to highlight the next step in continued growth and personal development both as individuals and as students of this work.
ARC Bodywork or ARC-Work
The ARC Institute specializes in a form of energy bodywork called ARC-Work or ARC Bodywork. Participants learn an array of techniques to treat pain, discomfort and disease. All techniques can be effectively applied to oneself, family, friends and clients in non-professional or professional settings. ARC-Work or ARC Bodywork excels in the treatment of emotional issues, especially those that impinge on lifestyle and have causative relation to physical complaints.
ARC teaches that healing and health is a natural outcome of conscious presence. While techniques are important, the student’s success is dependant upon the ability to sustain presence, personal centering and to retain fullness within. In this way, healing becomes an extension of the healer’s own state of health and, therefore, the process is unique to each individual healer.
The ARC Institute is fully committed to supporting our students’ discovery of their inherent healing gifts.
ARC-Talk
One of the main tools used throughout this program is a creative dialogue and communication skill called ARC-Talk. As a personal growth tool, ARC-Talk helps establish non-invasive communication between yourself and your physical body. It succeeds in successfully challenging, negotiating and re-training the emotional patterns that directly limit our life’s choices and keep us unfulfilled.
ARC-Talk can also be combined with any other bodywork or therapeutic modality. Adding ARC-Talk to a healthcare practice allows the caregiver to converse with the client before, during and after a session, in safe, nurturing ways. The client’s experience is deepened and clarified. As well, the caregiver learns how to gently and safely talk about the emotional patterns that may be contributing to a client’s physical lack of well being.
Body Language
In all classes participants learn how to intricately follow emotional process. They discover the relevance of unconscious language and how to form questions based both on the story that is presented as well as the unconscious information the client provides. This is a fascinating study that provides a window into seeing what really lies beneath a person’s surface behaviour and a doorway to communicating needs that often go unrealized and unheard.
